OLPC (one laptop per child) is an organisation which want to provide children in developing countries with access to knowledge and opportunities to "explore, experiment and express themselves". Therefore OLPC is distributing the XO-1, an inexpensive, robust and optimized laptop computer. It has small but good tactile keys. Fortunately, some people already work on solutions to make this device and it's software accessible for blind and otherwise handicaped persons. For this reason they have set up a mailing list with a public archive. At the moment, Hemant Goyal from India is working on the integration of speech synthesis in the Sugar environment. He is accepted for Google's summer of code 2008.
